Winter Wash-out in Washington!

The white-out, followed by a wash-out resulted in record river levels in western Washington. Record snowfall followed by warm temps and rain has caused flooding south of us…in the direct path of my commute to Centralia, which was one of the hardest hit areas. The I-5 interstate was closed for two days…will reopen later today, allowing only semis to travel, then will open up to cars. Here’s some flood pics.

I’m the proud aunt of a graduate of East Carolina University! Joseph David Barnhouse received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, on Dec. 13. Way to go Joe!

Trying to forge ahead and not look back too much since the loss of my brother Bob in September. He was a devoted father and husband, and a talented design engineer with the amazing ability to solve complex mechanical/electrical engineering challenges. If it was broken, Bob could fix it.

Robert L. Barnhouse was the lead engineer in the design and production of the increasingly popular redbox, a DVD movie release/rental system. Bob passed away September 14, 2008, in Wake Forest, NC, where he was Senior Systems Integration Engineer at Solectron (now Flextronics) in Creedmoor, North Carolina. Bob had a reputation for strong design and electrical/mechanical engineering skills and had 4 patents during his career and was working on another at the time of his death.

His time on this earth was much too short, and he is missed.
